#3: FAVOURITE COLOURS AND WHY
You may argue with me that Black is not a colour but a negative space, as many have debated. Still, I'll continue stating that Black is my favourite colour. Black has lots of meaning, depending on each individual, and to me, Black suggests depth. Something more than what meets the eye. Hidden layers. Its like being surrounded in darkness. All you see is the pitch black. Yet, you do know that there's more in that darkness. Its right there. You can't see it, but you can feel it. I guess this is how I see life as too. It's like wearing tinted glasses...if that makes sense.
Other than that, Black suggests independence, mystery and strength.
Beside Black is Red. Specifically, darker shades of Red: Carmine, Scarlet, Maroon, Cardinal, just to name a few. Red is a bold and fierce colour. The deeper shades evokes a 'mature' and independent vibe to me. I always find myself in a dilemma between Black and Red.
Blue happens to be the most liked colour. It happens to be my next palette choice. Just like red, I prefer darker Blues such as Oxford Blue, Prussian, Midnight Blue. I see these shades as authoritative, responsibility, truth and sacrifices. It makes me think of uniformed soldiers, the ocean and the night sky. The ocean and the sky has layers beneath and above them. Something that we don't see, yet are curious about.
Colours are like personalities, except that we choose the personality that we want them to have based on what we see. Black may suggest layers and mystery to me, but someone else may say that black is the colour of danger and loneliness. Ergo, we get to choose what we want colours to be. And I sure am curious as to how we pick our colours and define them..
